While the Volvo Ocean Race fleet takes a break in Cape Town, François Gabart entered the South-Atlantic in less than 30 days. The French offshore sailor passed Cape Horn on Sunday and is now heading north at about 35 knots boat speed. After 31 days racing, the skipper of the 30m MACIF trimaran holds a lead of 1.330 nautical miles over the current record holder Thomas Coville on Sodebo Ultim. In order to break the solo non-stop round the world record, Gabart needs to finish before 13:09 hours on December 23 (French time, UTC+1). #MACIF #FrançoisGabart
