François Gabart second in Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe

On our website you can read the latest and most unique performances during races all over the world.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]French professional osshore yacht racer François Gabart became second in the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe, the legendary solo transatlantic. In a thrilling head-to-head match race to the line Francis Joyon held off Gabart to win by only seven minutes and eight seconds. It was the closest finish since the first face in 1978. Joyon completed the singlehanded race in seven days, 14 hours and 21 minutes, beating the existing course record by just 46 minutes and 45 seconds.

Although François has become second, he is satisfied with his results after the race. François explains to Sail-World.com: “It’s been a wonderful race and it’s a good second place, because it wasn’t easy to win. It’s not a victory, but it is just as good as one, because it was a well-earned.
