The Superyacht Cup Palma, first organized in 2006 is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe. The Superyacht Cup located in Palma de Mallorca is set to begin on the 19th of June 2018 and end the 23rd of June 2018. This year there are 18 yachts who have accepted the challenge. However, two of these yachts, the 43.6m Svea, the newest and largest J Class S1 yacht, manufactured in Vitters Shipyard and designed by Hoek Naval Architects in 2017. Svea comes into the event on the back of its first victory in the St Barths Bucket, with the hope of continuing her winning streak. Along with Svea, the 46m performance cruiser Ganesha, designed by Dubois Naval Architects, also manufactured by Vitters Shipyard, comes into the event in good form after a strong showing in the famous Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta where they took second place in the B-class. With both Sailmon equipped yachts coming into the event on the back of good performances, they look ready to compete in this year’s Superyacht Cup.
Svea and the J Class fleet will open The Superyacht Cup on Wednesday 20 June, the first of four days of competitive racing. They will then be joined on the second and following days by the full fleet, including regular Superyacht Cup participants.
