Red Bull foiling generation

The Red Bull Foiling Generation is back in 2018, with Flying Phantom catamarans lifting up above the water at 35 knots. The Red Bull Foiling Generation is about providing young sailors between ages 16-20 with the ability to pursue their career in hydrofoil sailing. The competitions also serve as training platforms for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup, which is for competitors aged 19-25. These competitions train youth from all over the world on small foiling catamaran racers similar to those used in the America’s Cup. The sailors will compete in a series of heats in identical boats with distinct colours, with the final race determining who will represent their country in the World Cup. The Red Bull Foiling Generation is one of the biggest youth sailing programmes on the planet, holding regattas worldwide, starting in La Baule, France in October 2017 all the way until the World Final in the USA in November 2018. One of these regattas will be held in Den Haag, from June 25th to June 30th. During the volvo finish week, where there will be 32 Dutch sailing talents with the ability to sail one of the double Flying Phantom catamarans. This event will be, for many sailors, their first time in such an advanced boat. The double Flying phantoms can reach speeds of up to 65 km/h.

Sailmon will be providing a live feed of the boats location, speed and many other aspects. Through the use of the Sailmon app, which turns every iPhone and Android device into an advanced sailing processor. The app makes all action on the water instantly available online, which they can log, share and compare with other sailors around the world.
