Team Buikschuiver says goodbye - Sailmon

Den Haag, 18 September 2017- Last weekend, Team Buikschuiver on the BS2 succeeded in the winning their fifth straight Dutch Championship in the VA Lemsteraken class in Medemblik. Having set this record Peter Houtzagers and his team have decided to say goodbye to competition sailing in this class.

In the last 10 years Houtzagers and his team achieved a record number of victories in the class of ‘large’ lemsteraken. In doing this they equalled and then bettered the unique achievements of Erik Hermans and his team on the ZA1, who previously dominated the class.

A proud Houtzagers had this to say about his team and the future;
We know exactly how to get the best out of each other and are therefore able to focus, thanks to this the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. We have greatly enjoyed sailing competitively in this class. The BS2 is not going to be sold, but will instead be used as a family ship.

Houtzagers’ wanted to extend a special thanks to Jelle Douma, co-owner of the Workum Yacht Harbour, where the ship was built and has been maintained. He would also like to extend his tanks to Niels Moerke, the director of Van Oossanen Naval Architects, who single handedly designed the BS2 seven years ago.
