# Trimaran Macif is back in the water for the 2018 Season

# Trimaran Macif is back in the water for the 2018 Season
\[/vc\_column\_text\]\[vc\_column\_text\]Just 7 months after its incredible around the world record attempt, the Sailmon equipped trimaran [Macif](https://sailmon.com/projects/macif/) is back in the water. The 7 month refit, was designed to further optimise the performance of the Ultime.
The operation consisted of transforming areas of the floats as well as the structure accommodating the foil casings, capable of handling its new longer and finer foils as well as its new lifting rudder, both developed by CDK Technologies. Another major goal of the refit was to save weight, which was achieved thanks to a new, lighter sandwich boom. Along with weight saving a great deal of time was spent on the aerodynamics to reduce drag at full speed. To finish it all off, a fully developed Autopilot system was integrated, specifically adapted to the needs of the skipper.
The next few months will be devoted to training and preparing the boat for the Rhoute du Rhum, set to start in November.\[/vc\_column\_text\]\[/vc\_column\]\[/vc\_row\]\[vc\_row\]\[vc\_column\]\[vc\_separator\]\[/vc\_column\]\[/vc\_row\]\[vc\_row\]\[vc\_column\]\[vc\_column\_text\]
