François Gabart back in the North-Atlantic
French solo sailor François Gabart is back on the North-Atlantic Ocean and is heading for the Azores. On Sunday December 10 after 36 days out on the ocean, he crossed again the equator onboard of his trimaran Macif. At the moment, he has a lead of 2.294,78 nautical miles compared to Thomas Coville’s current solo non-stop round the world sailing record. Gabart has about 2.768 nautical miles left to crown his amazing circumnavigation with a new record. #TrimaranMACIF # FrançoisGabart
Yves Le Blevec in the Roaring Forties
Last week on the South-Atlantic, François Gabart crossed fellow countryman Yves Le Blevec, who is racing his multihull Team Actual in the ‘wrong’ direction around the world. Le Blevec is on his way to Cape Horn in westerly direction, which is against the prevailing winds and waves. Meanwhile he has entered the Roaring Forties, but he had to change his course a bit towards the west, because of an active front. #YvesLeBlevec #teamActual
