Xp-44 Xtra Staerk ready for RORC Transatlantic Race

The Finnish Offshore Racing team on the by Sailmon equipped Xp-44 Xtra Staerk is ready for the fifth edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race, that starts Saturday 24th November from Lanzarote to Grenada (2995nm). Xp-44 Xtra Staerk has sailed all the way to Lanzarote from her home port in Espoo, Finland. Skippered by Arto Linnervuo, the all-Finnish team will be competing in their first transatlantic race. “We aim to be fast and safe,” commented Linnervuo. “We are looking forward to good downwind surfing in big waves; what else could any sailor wish for?”

The fifth edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race takes the competitors through the islands of the Canaries, with their reputation for large acceleration zones and big waves, before heading out across the Atlantic Ocean to a finish off Quarantine Point on the east coast of Grenada.

Xp-44 Xtra Staerk is the representative team of Finnish Offshore Racing Association heading towards internationally well-known and demanding ocean races including Volvo Round Ireland Yacht Race, RORC Transatlantic Race across the Atlantic Ocean and RORC Caribbean 600 Race. Their all-Finnish sail racing team is formed by more than 15 experienced offshore sailors coached by professional sailor Pasi Palmu. Their yacht s/y Xtra Stærk is a modern competitive performance boat designed by X-Yachts (Xp 44) and fully equipped for ocean racing with all latest sailing technology, including a Model E4 and two Element 10 portrait displays from Sailmon.
